Animal Care Committees in Canada
Becoming a member of an animal care committee can be a daunting prospect especially if you have never served before. This introductory video will give the viewer an idea of what might be expected and how to get started. Whether you are a technician, graduate student, community representative or new researcher, your participation in this process is vital to ensure that animal welfare is given the consideration it deserves.
Chicken: Recommended Technical Procedures
This instructional video includes different methods of handling, blood sampling, injections and euthanasia. Production techniques for hatching of chicks and husbandry of chickens are demonstrated for adaptation to a laboratory setting. Specialized procedures such as artificial insemination are also presented.
Mouse: Recommended Technical Procedures
This training video is designed as a teaching aid to refine, replace and reduce the numbers of mice needed for demonstration purposes. Safe handling and restraint for injections, blood sampling and anesthesia methods are featured. The target audience includes animal health technologists, graduate students, laboratory assistants and members of animal care and use committees.
