Associate, Discovery Services – In Vivo Study Support

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will:

  • Develop and apply scientific skills and competence with basic methods and laboratory activities to support in vivo studies 
  • Expected results: Provide core technical and lab support for in vivo assays  
  • Contribution to the organization: complete established tasks, procedures, and deliver results to drive functional area decisions or project milestones
  • Execute basic technical competence and proficiency with in vivo methods (e.g., dosing, sample collection, physiological monitoring) and lab procedures for in vivo models
  • Develop knowledge of guidance documents, procedures, and methods to provide a proficient level of technical support for in vivo research studies 
  • Assist in performing veterinary health triage and monitoring
  • Contribute to husbandry activities such as changing cages, cage wash and facility sanitation maintenance activities as needed
  • Contribute to facility management, 5S (lean management) and inventory management as needed
  • Apply skills in computerized data acquisition, post-acquisition processing and data analysis using analytical & graphic software, and data summarization
  • Ability to analyze, interpret data and recognize data quality issues
  • Implement data management and documentation practices
  • Organize information (data, results) for communication to supervisor or peers
  • Able to work with frequent direction and supervision, and seek assistance as necessary
  • Develop effective working relationships within the lab group, across functional groups, and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, peers, and research partners to conduct in vivo studies
  • Work occasional weekends or holidays on rotation

Basic Qualifications

BS or AS Degree

OR

Veterinary Technician Diploma and 2 years’ experience working with laboratory animal species

OR

High School or GED and 6 years’ experience in a veterinary/technical role 
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified by CALAS at the RLAT (Registered Laboratory Animal Technician) level 
  • Certified RVT(Registered Veterinary Technician)
  • 2+ years working in a research setting
  • Experience performing and leading rodent in vivo studies
  • Strong technical skill set in rodent models required to support discovery research
  • Knowledge animal welfare regulations
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Proficient with computers and standard application software
