Certification

Before you Apply

The following is a checklist of what you will be required to answer during the application process. Please ensure you have the necessary information prior to applying online.

1. Step 1: Member Info

   Name, mailing address, phone number, email.

    

2. Step 2: Communication

   You will be asked to confirm how you would like CALAS to communicate with you.  Please make your language preference clear as that will be the language your certification material and exam will be provided in. 

    

3. Step 3: Employment

   You must include the name of your employer, your job title, types of animals that you worked with, and the time frame you were employed

    

4. Step 4: Education

   You will be asked to include all relevant certifications, degrees and schools you have attended.  Documents from outside of Canada will require an official equivalency review included with the application.  The diploma or degree type must me listed on the document.  Hard science programs are the accepted standards and must have some relation to animal health (e.g. biology, environmental science, nursing, veterinary programs).

    

5. Step 5: Documents

   Please indicate any special accommodations that you may have

   Please scan and attach all documents relevant to your application; resume, letter from employer, degree, diploma, transcripts etc. All applications must be completed once started, including an upload of ALL support documents. If any information of documents are missing from your application you will be denied entry into the certification process and will need to wait until the next exam cycle to apply.

    

6. Step 6: Exam Selection

   If you are unsure which exam site or exam type that you need to select, please contact the National Office  exams@calas-acsal.org for further information.  Exams may not be changed during the exam cycle. 

    

7. Step 7: Review

   Please review all information to ensure that it is correct

    

8. Step 8: Payment

   You will be charged a non-refundable application fee of $40.00 + HST (13%) when you complete your application.

   Your credit card number will not be kept on file. If you are approved to write an exam you will be required to provide payment for the exam fee at that time.
