Important Dates

The following are important deadlines for anyone considering taking an exam. Please note that all dates are subject to change. Updates will be made on this site as changes need to occur. Candidates are encouraged to double check this site at least two weeks before any milestone date in their exam process.

Travel to an examination site is the responsibility of the candidate. All efforts will be made by the organisation to connect candidates with examination sites as close to them as possible. No extensions are provided without medical reasons and documentation


Important Dates


2019 Certification Exam Dates for Reference

October 1, 2019

All exam applications must be submitted online by October 1st, 2019.

November 15, 2019

All applicants notified of their application status (accepted/rejected) and all study materials will be sent.

December 20, 2019

Last date for candidates to withdraw applications. A $32.00 (+HST) withdrawal fee will be charged. No refunds will be made after this date.

ARLAT 1

April 1, 2020 – Take home exam due

Mid-May, 2020 – Notified of results


ARLAT 2

April 1, 2020 – Proctored written exam

Mid-May, 2020 – Notified of Results


ARLAT 3

April 1, 2020 – Written exam

Mid-May, 2020 – Notified of Results

June 2020 – Oral/Practical Exam *NOTE: handling of mice, rats and aquatic species on oral exam is mandatory


ARLAT Accelerated Program

Jan 31, 2020 – ARLAT 1: Take home exam due

Feb 5, 2020 – ARLAT 2: Proctored written exam

Mid-March, 2020 – Notified of Results for both ARLAT 1 & 2 exams

April 1, 2020 – ARLAT 3 written exam

Please note that the practical exam material has been updated to replace rabbit handling with aquatic species content.  The oral portion of the exam will still contain material related to rabbits in addition to aquatic species. Review of the information package that you received at the time you were accepted into the program, along with the current CCAC Training Modules and Guidelines (https://www.ccac.ca/en/training/) for routine husbandry, procedures, and euthanasia of fish, will improve your chances for success.
